On July 20, 2007, the "China Machinery 500 Top Research Report" was officially released, highlighting the leading companies in China's machinery industry. FAW Group, Dongfeng Motor, and Shanghai Electric secured the top three positions in the list. This information was shared by a reporter at the 2007 "China Machinery 500 Research Report" and "World Machinery 500" conference.
According to survey data from China Machinery Network (MechPost.com), the combined product sales revenue of the "China Machinery 500" companies reached 2.549472 trillion yuan in 2006, reflecting an 8.24% increase compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, total profits amounted to 177.397 billion yuan, marking a 9.5% rise. The machinery sector showed steady growth, with improved economic performance across all key indicators.
In addition, this year’s press conference also unveiled the "World Top 500 Machinery Enterprises" list. A total of 60 Chinese companies made the global list. However, only FAW Group, Dongfeng Motor, and Shanghai Electric managed to enter the top 100, ranking 64th, 81st, and 98th respectively. Most other Chinese firms were positioned below the 300th spot, indicating room for further international expansion and competitiveness.
The report highlights the growing strength of China’s machinery industry, both domestically and globally, while also pointing out areas where improvement is needed to compete more effectively on the world stage.
