On July 20, 2007, the "China Machinery 500 Top Research Report" was officially released, featuring the list of the top 500 machinery companies in China. FAW Group, Dongfeng Motor, and Shanghai Electric secured the top three positions. This information was shared by a reporter at the 2007 "China Machinery 500 Research Report" and "World Machinery 500" conference.
According to survey data from China Machinery Network (MechPost.com), the total sales revenue of the "China Machinery 500" companies reached 2.549472 trillion yuan in 2006, reflecting an 8.24% increase compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, total profits amounted to 177.397 billion yuan, marking a 9.5% rise over the prior year. The machinery industry showed steady growth, with significant improvements in economic performance and better results across all key indicators.
In addition to the domestic rankings, this year’s press conference also unveiled the list of "World Top 500 Machinery Enterprises." A total of 60 Chinese companies made the global list. However, only FAW Group, Dongfeng Motor, and Shanghai Electric managed to enter the top 100, ranking 64th, 81st, and 98th, respectively. Most other Chinese firms were listed below position 300, indicating that while China's machinery sector is growing, it still has room for improvement on the global stage.
