This development has allowed FAW Bus to establish four production bases across China, located in Changchun, Dalian, Wuxi, and now Chengdu. The Chuanjun brand, which includes "Huaxi" and "Chuanma," is now playing a crucial role in FAW Bus's strategy to strengthen its presence in the southwest region.
During a press conference held on the same day, representatives from FAW Group revealed that this partnership with a private enterprise marks the first time the company has engaged in such collaboration. Chengdu Anda Special Vehicle Co., Ltd., the strategic partner, holds a 50% stake in FAW Bus (Chengdu) Co., Ltd., highlighting the mutual commitment to growth and innovation.
In addition, the Huaxi Bus, previously owned by Sichuan FAW Toyota, has been integrated into FAW Bus (Chengdu) Co., Ltd., further expanding its product portfolio and market reach.
Gao Chungchun, General Manager of FAW Bus Co., Ltd. and Chairman of the Chengdu branch, openly admitted that while FAW Bus possesses substantial resources, its vehicle products and brands are not yet well-known in the passenger car sector. He pointed out that the domestic passenger car industry is currently dominated by companies like Yutong and Jinlong, both of which are private enterprises. FAW Bus is primarily recognized for being the second-largest manufacturer of passenger car chassis in China, but its full vehicle products rank only 16th nationally.
Despite these challenges, Gao expressed confidence in FAW Bus’s future. He outlined an ambitious plan to elevate the company's position, aiming to reach the fifth spot in the country by 2006 and potentially enter the top three within the next three to five years. With such clear goals and a determined approach, it's evident that FAW Bus is preparing for a strong push in the passenger car market, ready to compete more aggressively in the coming years.
