Reporter recently learned from the Shanxi Provincial Department of Construction that in an effort to accelerate the adoption of renewable energy technologies, the government is introducing financial incentives for heat pump system projects. This initiative aims to encourage the use of sustainable heating and cooling solutions across both public and private sectors.
Ground source heat pump technology is a key component of renewable energy applications, offering efficient heating and cooling for buildings. It not only reduces energy consumption but also provides long-term economic benefits while being environmentally friendly. By utilizing underground pipelines as a stable thermal medium, these systems extract energy to provide winter heating, summer cooling, and hot water for daily use.
In the coming years, the Shanxi provincial government plans to prioritize the use of ground-source heat pump technology in office buildings and large public structures. For residential buildings, solar energy integration will be encouraged to achieve energy-efficient, self-sustaining homes. Solar panels will supply hot water, heating, and cooling needs, while high-end residential areas may combine photovoltaic systems to generate electricity for their own use.
Additionally, local governments will increase their support for public infrastructure by allocating funds from fixed asset investments. Public projects such as schools, hospitals, and administrative buildings will be given priority for heat pump installations, with funding sourced from government budgets. For other projects adopting heat pump systems, one-time subsidies will be provided based on the size of the project. The subsidy rate is set at 35 yuan per square meter for ground (or table) water source heat pumps, and 50 yuan per square meter for ground source and recycled water source heat pumps.
Furthermore, schools, hospitals, and welfare institutions installing solar hot water or boiling water systems will receive additional support from municipal finances. These measures reflect the province's commitment to promoting green building practices and reducing reliance on traditional energy sources.
