Jiji Machine provided 1600 tons of large-scale stamping production line for acceptance of Guangben

Recently, Guangzhou Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. has officially accepted a 1,600-ton large-scale stamping production line from Jinan No. 2 Machine Tool Plant. This marks a significant milestone, as it is the first time that a subsidiary of Honda has opted to use stamping equipment manufactured by a non-Japanese company globally. The decision signals a shift in the traditional approach of Japanese automakers, who have long relied on their domestic suppliers for critical manufacturing technologies. According to insiders, multinational joint ventures with a strong presence in the Chinese market typically prefer to bring in their own production equipment, especially when it comes to key manufacturing processes. This practice is particularly common among Japanese and South Korean companies, which tend to maintain tight control over their supply chains. However, this trend is not limited to China — similar patterns have been observed in Japanese auto manufacturing facilities across other countries. Now, however, this dynamic is slowly changing. As Chinese automotive equipment manufacturers continue to improve their technological capabilities and enhance their marketing strategies, more foreign automakers are beginning to take notice. Jinan No. 2 Machine Tool Plant, which holds a dominant 70% share of the national market, has already gained entry into most joint ventures in China, with the exception of those involving Sino-Korean partnerships. This growing acceptance reflects the rising reputation and reliability of Chinese-made industrial machinery on the global stage.
