I just spent the day at the Taste of Chicago, and I have to say, it was an incredible experience! The energy was through the roof, and there were so many amazing sights to see. One of the highlights for me was seeing all the different emergency vehicles on display. Fred McCahey had some fantastic photos capturing these moments.
First up, there was this awesome Ford Explorer used by the Chicago Fire Department. It looked sharp and ready for action, just like CFD 4-5-7. Then, I came across a classic ambulance, with its number 7-7-2 clearly visible. It’s always fascinating to see how these vehicles are designed to handle emergencies efficiently.
One of the newer additions that caught my eye was the medical ambulance bus, labeled as 8-8-12. It was massive but still sleek and modern, perfect for transporting patients in style—or at least as stylish as an ambulance can be. And let’s not forget Ambulance 73; it had that classic charm that reminded me of older models but still packed plenty of modern features.
There were also two support ATVs, both photographed by Fred McCahey. The first one seemed more suited for general support duties, while the second one, labeled EMS ATV, looked like it was built specifically for medical transport in tight or challenging areas. These little vehicles are crucial for navigating crowded events like the Taste of Chicago.
All in all, spending time at the Taste of Chicago gave me a newfound appreciation for how prepared our city is when it comes to handling emergencies. Seeing these vehicles up close really puts into perspective the hard work and dedication of the firefighters and paramedics who serve us every day. Thanks to Fred McCahey for capturing such great shots—it made the event even more memorable!
