New instrument makes chemical analysis greener

Green analysis technology has become the frontier of international analytical chemistry. Its goal is to minimize or minimize the use of harmful chemical reagents. Current research focuses on environmentally friendly sample processing and enrichment techniques such as solid phase extraction, solid-phase microextraction and membrane extraction, and the use of instrumentation to replace reagents.

From 2012, Shanghai Petrochemical began to analyze the three stations in the Quality Management Center to promote the relevant technologies. Now, there are many new instruments on the station that “take up posts”, replacing the time-consuming and laborious chemical analysis process.

Such as DWS-296 ammonia nitrogen analyzer, do not need to do the traditional sample processing, only direct measurement. The time required to complete a sample analysis was reduced from the original 2 hours to 15 minutes. It can also save reagents used for sample titration, effectively reducing safety and environmental risks.

Another example is the near-infrared spectrometer, which shortens the time for analysis of the hydroxyl content of auxiliary samples from the previous two and a half hours to eight minutes. Not only do you not need to use chemical reagents, and the analysis accuracy is higher than the standard chemical analysis results.

The staff of the station reflected that the investment in new equipment and the corresponding analytical technological innovations have made the analysis operations easier and more convenient. The analysis time has been greatly shortened, and the analysis result data has been more accurate and reliable. The work intensity of the sample is reduced, and at the same time, the analysts are protected from toxic and hazardous reagents and are more green and environmentally friendly.
