Determination of discharge time of uninterruptible power supply battery

After the mains power failure, the UPS relies on the battery energy storage to supply the load. The standard UPS itself has its own battery, and it can continue to supply power for several minutes to tens of minutes after power failure. The long-lasting UPS is equipped with an external battery pack, which can meet the needs of users to continue power supply during long-term power outages. The UPS can be fully loaded for more than a few hours.

The general long-life UPS standby time is mainly limited by factors such as battery cost, installation space, and battery recharge time. Generally, in a region where the power environment is poor and the power outage is frequent, the UPS and the generator are used to supply power. When the power is cut off, the UPS is powered by the battery for a period of time. If the power failure time is long, the Standby Generator can be started to continue to supply power to the UPS, and then switch to the mains supply when the utility power is restored.

Battery power is mainly affected by factors such as load size, battery capacity, ambient temperature, and battery discharge cutoff voltage. Generally, when the computer UPS battery is powered, the battery discharge current can be calculated first, and then the discharge time can be checked according to the battery discharge curve. The battery discharge current can be calculated according to the following empirical formula:

Discharge current = UPS capacity (VA) × power factor / (battery discharge average voltage × efficiency)

If you calculate the battery discharge time under actual load, you only need to change the UPS capacity to the actual load capacity.
