According to the report, the Russian auto market lost 29.1% in January and sold 81,849 vehicles. Volkswagen brand car sales fell, including the top three leading brands Kia (-20%) and Hyundai (-37%). Sales champion Lada lost 11% of sales.
At the same time, sales of Chinese brand cars have risen. The "News" pointed out that Lifan's sales rose by 63%, Geely's sales increased by 23%, and Chery's increase was 1%.
Sales of some luxury car brands also increased, with Porsche sales up 60% (311 units), Lexus up 57% (1085 units) and Mercedes up 1% (3205 units).
The paper pointed out that it seems that the increase in sales is related to the low base effect: after the wave of demand at the end of 2014, sales in January 2015 were very low. In addition, several experts interviewed by the newspaper said that the above brands have launched new models while maintaining the price of buyers, which has promoted sales.
