Chemical companies actively participate in the development of national standards

The industry standard (HG/T 3981-2007) for bipolar ion-exchange membrane electrolyzers, developed by Bluestar (Beijing) Chemical Machinery Co., Ltd., will officially take effect on April 1st. This new standard is expected to play a significant role in energy conservation and emission reduction within the chlor-alkali industry, helping to establish more consistent and efficient production practices. In the past, Zhejiang Jiande Jianye Organic Chemicals Co., Ltd. contributed to the development of six national standards related to organic amines, while Zhejiang Xin'an Chemical Group Co., Ltd. successfully proposed a national working standard for dimethyl dichlorosilane, which was later adopted as an official chemical standard after passing rigorous technical committee reviews. Following the Central Economic Work Conference and the National Quality Inspection Work Conference last year, the central leadership emphasized the importance of standardization work, elevating its significance to an unprecedented level. As a result, more enterprises are actively engaging in setting industry and national standards, recognizing that participating in such processes not only helps them gain technical leadership but also strengthens their brand influence and industry voice. The chlor-alkali industry is one of the key sectors targeted by national energy-saving and emission-reduction initiatives, with mandatory energy consumption limits set for 22 high-energy-consuming products. The bipolar ion-exchange membrane electrolysis method outlined in Bluestar's standard significantly improves energy efficiency compared to traditional diaphragm methods, reducing energy consumption per ton of caustic soda by approximately 1,000 kWh. Additionally, this technology reduces pollution and enhances product purity. By March, North Chemicals had promoted the installation of 7.25 million tons of domestic ion-exchange membrane caustic soda equipment, which could save up to 7.25 billion kWh of energy annually. Jiande Jianye Organic Chemicals Co., Ltd. has taken the lead in drafting six national standards for organic amines, including industrial ethylamine, diethylamine, triethylamine, isopropylamine, diisopropylamine, and methods for determining low-carbon aliphatic amine content. These efforts have demonstrated the company’s strong technical capabilities. Xin’an Chemicals, a leading producer of organic silicon in China, also showcases similar strengths in organic synthesis technologies. Wei Jing, Secretary-General of the National Chemical Standardization Technical Committee, highlighted that while enterprise enthusiasm for standard-setting is growing, it is essential for companies to shift their mindset and approach standard formulation from a broader, more strategic perspective. He emphasized that effective standardization should benefit the entire industry and be guided by an international outlook.
