Chemical companies actively participate in the development of national standards

The industry standard (HG/T 3981-2007) for bipolar ion-exchange membrane electrolyzers, developed by Bluestar (Beijing) Chemical Machinery Co., Ltd., will officially take effect on April 1st. This new standard is expected to play a crucial role in promoting energy efficiency and reducing emissions within the chlor-alkali industry. It sets a benchmark for industry practices and contributes to sustainable development. Previously, Zhejiang Jiande Jianye Organic Chemicals Co., Ltd. drafted six national standards for organic amines, while Zhejiang Xin'an Chemical Group Co., Ltd. successfully introduced a national working standard for dimethyl dichlorosilane, which was later adopted as an official chemical standard after review by the technical committee's organic branch. Following the Central Economic Work Conference and the National Quality Inspection Work Conference last year, the central leadership emphasized the importance of standardization, elevating its significance to an unprecedented level. As a result, more enterprises are now actively involved in setting industry, national, and even international standards. Companies recognize that participating in standard formulation not only helps them gain a competitive edge in technology but also enhances brand visibility and industry influence. The chlor-alkali industry is particularly targeted under national energy-saving and emission-reduction policies, with 22 high-energy-consuming products subject to mandatory energy consumption limits. The bipolar ion-exchange membrane electrolysis method outlined in Bluestar’s standard offers substantial energy savings compared to traditional diaphragm methods, reducing energy consumption by approximately 1,000 kWh per ton of caustic soda. Additionally, it significantly reduces pollution and produces high-purity products. By March, North Chemicals had promoted a total capacity of 7.25 million tons of domestic ion-exchange membrane caustic soda equipment, saving 7.25 billion kWh annually. Jiande Jianye Chemical Co., Ltd. has successfully completed the drafting of six national standards for organic amines, including industrial ethylamine, diethylamine, triethylamine, isopropylamine, diisopropylamine, and methods for determining low-carbon aliphatic amine content. This achievement highlights the company’s strong technical capabilities. Xin’an Chemicals, a leading producer of organic silicon in China, also demonstrates comparable expertise in organic synthesis technologies. Wei Jing, Secretary-General of the National Chemical Standardization Technical Committee, emphasized that enterprise participation in standard-setting should go beyond mere enthusiasm. Companies must adopt a broader perspective, viewing standard formulation as a strategic move that benefits the entire industry and aligns with global trends.
