This move shows that China’s most powerful automobile manufacturing group and the steel production group have further established and consolidated closer cooperation in new areas.
It is understood that Baosteel Group Co., Ltd. is the largest and most modernized iron and steel conglomerate in China and has ranked in the Fortune 500 for four consecutive years. Shanghai Automotive Industry (Group) Corporation is one of the three largest automotive groups in China. It is mainly engaged in the production, sales, development, investment, and related automotive service trade and financial services of passenger cars, commercial vehicles and auto parts. It is also the world’s 500 Strong business. Donghua is a joint venture between SAIC and Nanjing Yuejin Group. Nanqi Mould Equipment Co., Ltd. is a specialized enterprise engaged in the design and manufacture of automotive process equipment. After the reorganization was completed, Baosteel and SAIC each had a 35% stake in the newly formed joint venture, and Donghua Company accounted for 30% of the equity.
It is reported that Baosteel and SAIC have established close cooperative partnership. The cooperation of this mold project is a beneficial attempt for the development of cross-regional and industrial linkage between Baosteel Group and SAIC Group, which will not only help Baosteel's advantages in steel supply, new material research and development, but also continuously improve the company's technology and cost in sheet metal, etc. In terms of competitiveness, it is also conducive to exerting SAIC's advantages in the automotive industry, promoting the development of a company's neutrality, and continuously expanding its production scale and market share.
