On June 5, 2017, Weihai Zhongyuan Shipbuilding Technology Co., Ltd. successfully signed an order for 2 sets of Sea Shield Ballast Water Management System. The Sea Shield System will be installed for the first time on two new landing ships of the Saudi Arabian Navy. The landing ship project is the first two of the five series of ships planned to be built, and the customer reserves the possibility of additional orders.
In the past two years, Weihai COSCO Technology has been aiming at the offshore ship market and is committed to research and development of small-type low-volume ballast water management systems. In early 2017, it developed and finalized BOS05-100 and BOS05-200 models to make up for the previous series models ( BOS05-300~1600) is only applicable to the blank of ocean vessels such as container ships, bulk carriers and oil tankers.
It is reported that Haidun small model low-treatment ballast water management system is closer to the requirements of ballast water treatment for offshore vessels. With its compact design, convenient operation and excellent service, it is favored by the Saudi Arabian Navy and Southeast Asian shipyards. In one fell swoop, the order was won.
Saudi Arabia is one of the richest countries in the Middle East. The Saudi Navy's military procurement is known for its high standards and strict requirements. The acquisition of this order shows the trust of the Middle East shipowners and Southeast Asian shipyards in the marine products of COSCO Shipyard. Weihai COSCO Technology will use this as an entry point to adapt to the market situation, grab orders, compete for market and seek development, and fill the market gap with small processing equipment.
