As I wandered through the exhibit hall at McCormick Place during the Fire Rescue International trade show, I couldn’t help but be captivated by the impressive array of emergency vehicles on display. Each unit seemed to tell its own story, showcasing innovation and dedication to public safety. Here’s a glimpse of some of the standout vehicles I came across:
The New AEV ambulance for Bloomingdale was an immediate eye-catcher. Its sleek design and functionality spoke volumes about the level of care and precision that goes into building such vital equipment. Larry Shapiro's photo captures the essence of this modern ambulance perfectly.
Just a few steps away stood the Leyden Township ambulances, both built by Wheeled Coach. These vehicles exuded professionalism and reliability, with their clean lines and robust build. The attention to detail was evident, especially when paired with Larry Shapiro’s vivid imagery.
Moving along, I found myself drawn to the quint from River Forest. This fire truck, proudly displayed in the Marion booth, looked ready to tackle any challenge. Larry Shapiro’s photo beautifully highlights the quint’s advanced features and powerful presence.
Further down the aisle, the Franklin Park engine caught my attention. Its bold design and vibrant colors made it stand out amidst the crowd. Larry Shapiro’s lens once again did justice to the vehicle’s impressive stature.
The Alsip Car 2000 was another highlight, captured beautifully by Josh Boyajian. Its unique styling and purposeful aesthetic made it a memorable piece among the exhibits.
Not far from there, the Joliet Engine 8 commanded respect. Larry Shapiro’s photo showcased the vehicle’s strength and capability, leaving no doubt about its role as a guardian of the community.
I also had the chance to explore Aurora’s impressive fleet, including Engine 9, which marked the department’s third new addition. Josh Boyajian’s photo provided a stunning view of this state-of-the-art machine.
Another notable find was the Crestwood Ford Expedition, photographed by Larry Shapiro. Its rugged exterior promised dependability and efficiency in even the toughest situations.
The Chicago Fire Department wasn’t left out either. CFD Turret Wagon 6-7-3 Deluge Wagon, captured by Josh Boyajian, was a striking example of firefighting ingenuity. Similarly, CFD Comm Van 2-7-8 from O’Hare, also photographed by Josh, demonstrated the importance of communication in emergency response.
Finally, the HME quints for the Gary Fire Department were nothing short of spectacular. Both vehicles, photographed by Larry Shapiro and Josh Boyajian respectively, exemplified cutting-edge technology and reliability.
Each vehicle I encountered during my visit told a story of commitment and progress. It was inspiring to see how far emergency services have come in terms of technology and design. Walking through the exhibit hall felt like stepping into the future of firefighting and rescue operations.
