A resident called the Buffalo Grove Fire Department around 2:00 AM on Friday, May 6th, 2016, reporting a fire in an attached garage. The closest unit, Arlington Heights Engine 4, arrived first due to their proximity to the location. They found a fully involved house and immediately hit the garage with their deck gun before deploying a handline. A short time later, Buffalo Grove Tower 25 arrived and deployed a second line. Within minutes, the bulk of the fire was under control, and I arrived shortly after that.
Upon Engine 4’s arrival, the alarm was upgraded to a Code 4 for a working fire. A Box Alarm was then requested to bring in more personnel. Thanks to the quick response and coordinated efforts, the fire was contained and prevented from spreading into the main house. The residents were already outside when the firefighters arrived, which likely helped keep the situation under control.
