This unit consists of a single-stage air injection pump combined with a two-stage water ring vacuum pump, which can be used separately depending on the client’s needs.
The two-stage water ring vacuum pump or unit is ideal for pumping non-corrosive gases that are insoluble in water and do not contain solid particles, making it suitable for achieving high vacuum levels in sealed vessels.
Working Principle:
The working principle of the two-stage water ring vacuum pump is illustrated in the figure below. When the eccentrically mounted impellers inside the pump housing rotate, water is thrown outward due to centrifugal force, forming a rotating water ring between the inner surface of the pump housing and the impeller. As the impeller rotates, the water ring moves and interacts with the impeller hub. During the first half of the rotation, the cavity between adjacent impellers expands, drawing gas into the pump through the crescent-shaped suction port. In the second half of the rotation, the cavity shrinks, compressing the gas and expelling it from the pump. This continuous process creates a vacuum within the system.

The air injection pump works as a jet injector. When the two-stage water ring vacuum pump reaches maximum vacuum, the atmosphere pump is connected, allowing air or pressurized gas to be drawn into the pipe rapidly due to the pressure difference. The flow rate increases after the air is injected, reducing the pressure and creating a higher vacuum than the pump alone. This allows the pump to continue drawing more gas into the system.

The structural drawing of the two-stage water ring vacuum pump with a capacity over 1.5 m³/min shows the longer impeller (17) and shorter impeller (16) fixed to the shaft (2) with pins. A shaft sleeve (20) and a round nut secure them together, forming the rotor. The impellers are installed eccentrically inside the pump body and supported by two single-row radial ball bearings. The rotor is connected to the motor shaft via a coupling (18), rotating in unison with the motor. The longer impeller, longer pump body, and suction part form the high-vacuum section, while the shorter pump body, shorter impeller, and discharge part form the low-vacuum section. The air outlet of the high-vacuum segment and the suction inlet of the low-vacuum segment are connected via a communication pipe, creating a dual-stage tandem configuration. The two sections are separated by intermediate walls (A) and (B), with wall (B) having an intake port. The 2SK series two-stage pumps are mechanically sealed at both ends.
In the high-vacuum segment, there is a water inlet hole through which makeup water is added to the longer pump body. Makeup water for the low-vacuum segment is supplied from the high-vacuum side. For models like 2SK-12A, 2SK-20A, and 2SK-30A, some makeup water is also provided from the water supply pipe but must be regulated using valves. The high- and low-vacuum segments are secured together with draw-in bolts. The air injection pump consists of an inlet air pipe, jet nozzle, air valve body, and diffuser.
