Among the top 75, China has 29 listed companies and 5 Taiwanese companies, nearly half of the total. According to U.S. media, the global tire industry recorded sales of 179.9 billion U.S. dollars in 2014, a year-on-year decrease of 3.8%, and it has declined for three consecutive years. There are 10 “US$1 billion U.S. clubs†and 7 companies with sales growth rate of more than 10%.
In addition, according to professional analysis, due to lower prices of raw materials such as rubber, the global operating profit and net profit of the top 75 tires continued to grow in 2014, most of which hit record highs, but the growth rate narrowed. The net profit of most companies increased from the previous year. Tire investment also showed its first slowing trend. According to statistics, the global tire investment in 2014 was US$6 billion, which was lower than the average value of US$7 billion in the past 10 years. Two-thirds of the investment occurred in Asia, and investment in projects has shifted to Asia, especially China and Thailand. There are 12 new projects, at least 66 million semi-steel tires, 9 million tires and 5 million other tires.
