Beijing Metrology Institute Successfully Developed a PM2.5 Calibration Device

[ China Instrument Network Instrument Development ] Particle PM2.5 refers to particles with an aerodynamic equivalent diameter of ≤2.5 μm in ambient air, also known as fine particles. PM2.5 in the air will cause great harm to human health through the lower respiratory tract. In addition, PM2.5 is also one of the important causes of atmospheric ashes.

At present, the construction of air quality automatic monitoring stations and the procurement of PM2.5 monitoring equipment are being carried out throughout the country, and some areas have begun to publish daily PM2.5 data. However, the research on PM2.5 in China started late. Before this, large-scale detection instruments were imported from abroad. However, these instruments have different measurement methods. Different companies' instruments may measure different values in the same environment.
The standard for detecting PM2.5 particles depends on the standard substance. In the past, China's PM2.5 reference material was also introduced from abroad, but this situation is expected to be resolved in the future.
Recently, the Beijing Institute of Metrology and Measurement successfully developed a standard material and dust calibration device with the domestic leading level of PM2.5. The particle standard material in this device is different from common white particles and is the first of its kind.
The standard PM2.5 particles self-developed by the Beijing Metrology Institute are closer to the actual environment and real particles to ensure the accuracy and accuracy of detection, and provide a more accurate basis for environmental governance. In addition to PM2.5, the Beijing Institute of Metrology also developed particles ranging in size from 1 micron to dozens of microns, and dust particles.
In recent years, the environmental testing industry has focused mainly on air environmental governance, and relatively few soil and water samples have been detected. At present, the Beijing Metrology Institute has applied for the establishment of the “National Center for Ecological Environmental Monitoring and Product Quality Supervision and Inspection”, which will compensate for the lack of soil and water sample detection and strengthen the monitoring of the ecological environment.
