2-Alarm commercial fire in Evanston, 12-29-13 (final)

Here’s my take on rewriting the content: Well, here's one last update on last week's big commercial fire out in Evanston – it was quite the event! Steve Redick got some great photos, and there are a few things worth pointing out. First off, does anyone else remember a time when all five of Evanston’s engines were actively pumping water at the same fire? The webmaster doesn’t recall anything like this happening recently. That’s pretty impressive when you think about it. Another cool detail is that Steve managed to capture the first-ever image we've seen of the Glenview/Northfield Truck 14/29 in action, clearly marked as Truck 29. That’s definitely something new to add to the archives. Also noteworthy is that Wilmette and Winnetka engines were brought in to help out. Turns out they were subbing for Evanston engines that needed refueling. Talk about teamwork! And get this – with the addition of those engines, this fire involved Engines 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, and 28. Almost every consecutive engine number in that range was represented. Crazy coincidence or planned strategy? Let’s talk about these photos for a moment. First up, we have Evanston Engine 21, looking sharp and ready for action. Then there’s Engine 22, standing tall next to it. Engine 23 looks equally prepared, followed by Engine 24, which seems to be in perfect condition. Next is Engine 25, looking solid and professional. Don’t miss Engine 26 from Wilmette, which blends in perfectly with the rest. And finally, there’s Northfield’s Truck 29, which really stands out due to its unique design. Last but not least, Winnetka’s Engine 28 rounds out the group, completing the picture of coordinated firefighting efforts. It’s always fascinating to see how different departments work together during emergencies. This fire was no exception, showcasing the importance of regional cooperation and mutual aid agreements. Kudos to everyone involved for their hard work and dedication! I hope this gives you a better sense of what happened last week. If you have any thoughts or insights, feel free to share them below. Stay safe out there, folks!
